Making of

When I moved from Munich to Berlin, I finally picked up my camera again, which had been lying unused on the shelf for years. However, as I soon realised that I wasn’t finding the real gems on my regular photo safaris, but in everyday life, I soon bought myself a decent camera phone so that I could take these wonderful moments with me. It all started with a SonyEricsson K750i.

In order to be able to use this rapidly growing archive and at the same time share the “Life in Berlin” experiment with those who stayed at home, I began to compile these photos into a small photo newsletter and send it to my circle of friends in Munich. The “News from the capital” was born. The thing became a self-runner. The circle of friends became my entire Munich mailing list, and the Berliners joined the Munichers. Over the years, I expanded the base of my “subscribers” more and more until it eventually encompassed half of the German film and advertising industry. Unfortunately, the project fell asleep a little in 2011, as I was so busy with screenwriting jobs at the time that I couldn’t get round to my newsletters. A restart in October 2014 briefly brought a breath of fresh air to the project, but in the meantime the internet had been invented and with it the urgent desire to finally “share” the newsletter and its photo series. And share a pdf!

On this project page you will find a few highlights of the previous issues. The domain for the website has long been reserved, but unfortunately I haven’t got round to building the site yet. However, as the photo production continues unabated, the “news” is currently taking place with great success and daily updates on Instagram. I’m happy about everyone who stops by there.
